Q: I understand that Hybrid Dental is a specialized dental clinic that specializes in 'All on Four.  Please tell me more about that procedure.  

A: All on x, all on 4, all on 6 are all synonymous terms that are related to full mouth reconstruction procedure where a patient can regain a full arch of teeth permanently with the utilization of a small group of dental implants.  This procedure can be achieved in one appointment hence the term “smile in a day.”  This revolutionary technique has been innovative in providing patients that once were deemed to have a lifetime of dentures to permanent teeth.  If you are missing multiple teeth and researching possible tooth-replacement options, you may want to consider the All-on-X/4/6 implant treatment. All-on-X implants involve placing a few titanium implants at key points in the lower or upper jaw to provide a sturdy base for a row of artificial teeth. Q: There are many implant patients. What do you consider important when performing the procedure?

A: The most important factor to consider with this type of procedure would be predictability for the best result and everything that ensures that.  The best result would be beautiful teeth with ideal functionality.  Precision and predictability can be achieved with careful pre-surgical planning and digital foresight.  With today’s technology we are able achieve this with advanced 3D imaging and innovative computer software.  The information gathered during these preplanning steps will allow us to see bone density and bone quality as well as other underlying elements to consider during surgery.  This analytical data will tell us where to place the implants and can pre-design our new teeth so they are ready at time of surgery.  All this is done prior to the surgery day.  I always like to “begin with the end in mind!”

Q: These days, implants are popular, so there are cases where teeth are easily removed, but I heard that Dr. Lee tries to save teeth as much as possible. Please tell me why you do that.

A: Implants have been a great advancement in dentistry for the right application.  Implants are great at replacing missing teeth, but nothing is as good as what mother nature gave us.  So that alone is motivation for everyone to maintain care in order to keep your teeth perfect.  

But if that dreaded day comes when you are told you have a “bad tooth” don’t fret at that news.  Access the situation and find a solution.  The best advice I could give would be to take care of problems as soon as you can.  Small problems lead to big ones.  Big problems in dentistry lead to pain, infection, and tooth loss. Big problems cost more money to fix.  That leads to a big con about dental implants, the cost.  So, before the idea of implants are considered alternative treatment plans should be exhausted. 

Q: What efforts are needed to keep teeth healthy for a long time? Please answer specifically.

A: Simple! Brushing and flossing regularly as often as we eat or snack.  The truth to proper oral health care has been consistent for decades but sometimes simple things are ignored.  Consistent reminders are necessary.  So that’s what I do.  I’m the reminder.  That’s why regular periodic checkups and cleanings; every 3-6 months are necessary.  “Be true to your teeth or they will be false to you.”

Q: Many reviews say that Dr. Lee is very kind and meticulous in treating patients. Do you have a philosophy on treating patients as a doctor?

A: The positive feedback and nice comments are always received with much gratitude.  Staying humble to the craft always keeps me grounded to life.  I always try to achieve the best possible solution for my patients.  The main philosophy that I follow as a doctor would be to empathize with people I come across; to treat everyone as if they are family.  I try to relate to the patient’s concerns so I can understand their desired outcomes.  Listening to first approach always leads to desired outcome.  

Q: What are your future plans for running a dental clinic and what would you like to do personally?

A: Life dictates our roles.  My role in this life is to serve people with my hands.  The dental clinic is my stage where I can bring care and comfort for those that seek it.  I have dedicated my life to this.  I see myself in dentistry in some capacity for the rest of my life.  I am not a work-a-holic or self-righteous to any extent.  I just see my career as a privilege and ability to make a difference in this community of humanity.  Personally, I’d like to see the dental clinic become more accessible to more patients in need.  As I say to everyone one of my patients at the end of the appointment “I’ll be here when you need me!”
